Hope Centre News - June 2012

The Hope Centre (Halifax) is up and running, based at the Serbian Church, Boothtown, Halifax. The Centre is  managed  by Dr Anna Rewilak, Isobel Tandy and Vanda Bingley. Initially we will be offering regular Meditation, spiritual teaching and a range of Holistic Therapies. We hope to develop and expand our work over in West Yorkshire in the coming months.

Strength in Passing begins 30th June with the first of 4 Workshops dealing with issues of Life and Death, illness and bereavement. We will be addressing these matters from an Holistic perspective in a healing and supportive environment.

We are providing Clinical Practice for several newly qualified reflexologists. If you would like to take advantage of a limited opportunity to experience the benefits of reflexology at a much reduced rate, please contact the Centre 0161 973 9130.

We have recently undertaken some training with local teachers and teaching assistants who work with children with Sensory Impairment. Many were introduced to meditation, alignment and other approaches to reduce stress and improve performance. The feedback was “universally positive” and several of those who attended have connected to our regular meditation groups. We are very keen to be involved in training for other groups who wish to learn how better to relax, manage their energy and reduce stress.

We are now hosting regular Sound Meditations on the first and third Fridays of the month (7.30pm to 8.30pm). These sessions are suitable for more experienced meditators and will involve both live and recorded sound, including Crystal Bowls, Tibetan Bowls, Chanting/Mantras and other interesting approaches to meditation. For details please contact David Sargent 0161 973 9130 or e mail manchester@lightof hope.co.uk

Dr Diane Speier, who has been a volunteer on reception for us will be leaving due to other commitments, not least that she is in the process of writing a book! We thank Diane for all her help and wish her great success in the future. We are grateful for any volunteer help which people may be able to offer. Please contact the Centre if you have any time which you can give to help people and to support the Hope Centre.

We will be offering Antenatal Yoga from 27th June and every Wednesday thereafter 9.30am to 11.00am. For further details please contact Kate Brunt 0161 286 9085 or (m) 07753 825 032.

Light of Hope is a Community Interest Company

Community Interest Companies (CICS) are limited companies, with special additional features, created for the use of people who want to conduct a business or other activity for community benefit, and not purely for private advantage. This is achieved by a "community interest test" and "asset lock", which ensure that the CIC is established for community purposes and the assets and profits are dedicated to these purposes. Registration of a company as a CIC has to be approved by the Regulator who also has a continuing monitoring and enforcement role.
